WILMINGTON, DE (Oct. 15, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer hadn't played in nearly two weeks, and while GCU had their chances in the first half, things fell apart in the second in a 4-0 loss at Wilmington. The loss puts GCU at 3-5-3 overall and 2-3 in the CACC.

How it Happened

• With less than seven minutes remaining, GCU had another chance. Mikey Mallon carried the ball up the field and got behind everyone, going one-on-one with the keeper. His shot was straight and the Wildcat keeper got a hand on it to make the save.
• In the closing minutes, Wilmington had a freekick from about 10 yards out, just outside the box. Ayendi Batista punched it away but led to a Wilmington corner kick. The Wildcats nearly made the most of it as the kick went to the back post and was headed by a Wildcat, but off the side of the net for a goal kick.
• The chances were coming furiously at the end. With under a minute, the Wildcats got the ball into the box and got a shot off that just sailed high and took us to a scoreless first half.
• The wild first half saw featured 19 shots with eight going on goal.

Second Half
• The Wildcat scoring started early in the second. Just 27 seconds in, Wilmington put one on the board. There was chaos in the crease that saw defender Tim Wilk behind Ayendi Batista in net. The Wildcats had a clear shot and deflected one off of Wilk and in for a 1-0 lead.
• Wilmington's offense kept applying pressure. GCU had two shots in the first 30 minutes of the half.
• The Wildcats made it 2-0 in the 69th minute. A Lion goalkick found the feet of a Wildcat and Wilmington immediately had numbers in the offensive zone. Theo Faillon dribbled around Batista and scored to double WILMU's lead.
• A little over a minute later, it was 3-0 Wildcats. That too came from a turnover as Michiharu Takanashi dribbled into the beat, beat a defender then the keeper.
• The Wildcats added a fourth in the 78th minute. Batista made an initial save, but Wilmington had numbers and a juicy rebound was hammered home for a 4-0 lead.
