Lions Concede Three Goals In Final Four Minutes in Loss at Felician

RUTHERFORD, NJ (Oct. 19, 2025) - Georgian Court scored first and held the lead until the 85th minute. In the final five though is where it all fell apart as Felician scored three goals in a 2:02 span to tie, take the lead, and add an insurance goal in a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon. The loss puts the Lions at 2-4 in the CACC this season with four games left to play.

How it Happened
• Shots favored Felician 18-12 and shots on goal 8-5, with most of that coming in the second half.
• The Golden Falcons took 11 second-half shots, putting seven on net in the second half with their four goals.
• Between fouls and cards there was an infraction called more than once every other minute. Felician was called for 24 fouls and seven yellow cards. GCU was issued four yellows and whistled for 16 fouls. That's a total of 51 fouls and cards in 90 minutes.
• Each team was called offsides just once. The Lions attempted seven corner kicks and the Golden Falcons five.

1st Half
• It was a slow start from both teams. There was just one shot in the first 10 minutes and just one shot on goal in the first 12.
• The scoring started for GCU in the 18th minute. Jack Pollintine-Smith intercepted a pass, quickly found David Tuschmann who turned and fired from 22 yards out. His shot was right on the keeper, but it fell short of reaching him, then-short hopped over his arms and into the net.
• GCU nearly made it 2-0 a few minutes later, by Sander Rynning's attempt rang off the crossbar.
• Lion goalkeeper Sotirios Gkosdis wasn't under much duress in the first half and was helped out by some blocked shots in front of him.
• The Lion defense didn't allow a shot over the final 13 minutes of the half, and GCU was up 1-0 after 45 minutes.

2nd Half
• Each team got a shot off early in the half, but neither put the ball on net.
• The Lions second goal also came off of a turnover, this time in the 56th minute. A Felician throw-in was picked-off by the Lions. Sander Rynning flicked the ball ahead to Mikey Mallon who pushed it forward with his head to himself, split a pair of defenders, and shot past the goalkeeper.
• Not long after, Felician got the only goal back off of a corner kick. The ball was sent into the box where it was headed towards an empty net. Bryan Sanchez nearly was able to make the save heading the ball out, but it went high into the net instead of out and cut the Lion lead in half with 27 minutes still to play.
• There was a lot of chewing up the field, but not many scoring chances. Each team took just one off-target shot as the clock was winding down.
• Felician was applying pressure and hit the equalizer with less than four minutes to play. A strong throw-in got inside the box where Felician's Ayato Kaneko settled it, got a header pass off to Ignacio Ferrer-Matas who one-timed it into the net.
• The Golden Falcons weren't done yet. Just 95 seconds later they took the lead. A GCU free kick was won by Felician and sent the other direction. Bartu Yakkan kept the ball alive, and his pass back towards the middle was headed in by Erick Aguiar with just 2:10 left to play.
• Now with the lead, Felician scored again just 26 seconds later. Georgian Court pushed forward looking to tie, but lost possession and two passes later, Keiji Segiura broke free and beat Gkosdis for a two-goal lead and a 4-2 win.
