Men's Soccer Rolls to 3-1 Win at Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. (Oct. 29, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer picked up their second straight win Wednesday afternoon. They defeated Goldey-Beacom 3-1 behind a pair of second half goals to improve to 5-6-3 overall and 4-4 in the CACC.

How it Happened
• Georgian Court's offense was buzzing for much of the game. They led in shots, 15-7 and shots on goal, 12-4.
• Goldey-Beacom though was able to garner more corner kick opportunities, 5-3.
• The Lightning were called for 16 fouls and issued five yellows. GCU got whistled for 13 common fouls, one yellow and one red card.

1st Half
• The Lightning had a couple of early chances, putting two shots on Ayendi Batista in the first eight minutes, but he was up to task each time.
• Georgian Court started to generate pressure, getting off four shots in 10 minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net.
• Late in the half, Alessandro Cavallini gave the Lions a 1-0 lead. Nabeel Khan from just outside the box near the goal line launched a pass in front of the goal where Cavallini was there to head the ball into the goal. 
• Georgian Court nearly made it 2-0 before the end of the half as Felix Kramper, Tim Wilk and Mikey Mallon each put shots on goal in the final six minutes, Mallon's with just seconds left before the buzzer, but Jamel Yasin stopped all three to keep it a 1-0 game at the half.
2nd Half
• A little more than five minutes into the half, Goldey-Beacom hit the equalizer. They got a free kick from about 20 yards out and Emmanuel Bustos tucked it under the crossbar, evening the game at one.
• Shortly after the Lightning tied the game, GCU untied it. Jack Pollintine-Smith pressured the GBC goalkeeper into a turnover. The rushed pass went to Tim Wilk who passed back to Pollintine-Smith and he did the rest for a 2-1 Lion lead with 36 minutes left to play. 
• Georgian Court put the game away in the 66th minute. Noa Aasheim passed into the box where Henry Calix was waiting to head the ball past the keeper for a 3-1 lead. 
• The Lightning's best chance in the half came when they earned back-to-back corner kicks. They put one shot on goal which was saved by Batista though. 
• GBC got one more shot the rest of the game which went high as the Lions earned a 3-1 win. 

Lion Stat Leaders
• Ayendi Batista made three saves in goal.
• Alessandro Cavallini scored on two shots.
• Jack Pollintine-Smith scored.
• Henry Calix came off the bench to score a goal.
• Tim Wilk, Noa Aasheim and Nabeel Khan all had assists.

For the Lightning
• Jamel Yasin made nine saves.
• Emanuel Bustos scored the Lightning's only goal. 

News and Notes
• David Tuschmann played in his 60th career game and Tim Wilk got into his 50th.
• Mikey Mallon took his 100th career shot. His five shots are also a single-game high for the senior.
• Georgian Court took 15 shots with 12 going on target. That's their highest shot on goal percentage of the season.
• Tim Wilk's assist is his second of his career. 
• Henry Calix's goal is his first as a Lion. 
• The Lions .750 shot on goal percentage is their highest in four years. They had seven shots on target among nine shots Oct. 27, 2021 for a .778 shot on goal percentage. 
• This is the third straight game both Alessandro Cavallini and Jack Pollintine-Smith have scored against Goldey-Beacom. They both scored in each game last year against the Lightning. 
• It's also the third straight 3-1 victory for GCU over the Lightning. 

Up Next
• Georgian Court stays on the road this weekend. They play at conference leaders Post Saturday, Nov. 1 with a 3:30 pm kickoff.
