Men's Soccer Picks Up 2-1 Homecoming Victory Over Caldwell

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 4, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer continued their hot play of late picking up their third straight win and second straight CACC win as they improve to 3-4-3 and 2-2 in the CACC. Saturday's win came in a 2-1 win over Caldwell, with GCU netting a goal in each half.

How it Happened
• Most of the game was controlled by Caldwell. They held possession for 55% of the match.
• Georgian Court made the most of their opportunities though. They were outshot 21-4 and the Lions put just two shots on goal, however both of those found the back of the net.
• Corner kicks also favored the Cougars, 10-4 while fouls were even with Caldwell called for 15 and GCU 14. Caldwell was also issued four yellow cards, including one second yellow that gave GCU an 11-on-10 advantage for the final 1:50 of the match. GCU was called for one yellow.

1st Half
• In the early going it was Caldwell putting the pressure on the Lions. They were firing off shots, however most were off target.
• The best early chance came from Georgian Court's Alessandro Cavallini. A turnover gave Cavallini a brilliant chance one-on-one with the keeper, but he pushed his shot wide and off frame.
• Ayendi Batista made a save in the 29th minute to preserve the scoreless tie.
• In the 37th minute, it was the Lions' Gijs van Eif who broke the tie. A scramble in the box saw the ball at van Eif's feet. All he needed to do was finish and that's just what he did putting Georgian Court up 1-0.
• Caldwell got a decent look late in the half, but their shot attempt went wide and after 45 minutes it was a 1-0 GCU lead.

2nd Half
• Batista made a pair of saves in the first 15 minutes of the second half to keep the Lions on top.
• GCU got some insurance shortly after. Lennard Altreuther started a build up inside his own zone passing to Gijs van Eif, who took a touch, passed to Noa Aasheim who buried his first career goal giving the Lions a 2-0 advantage.
• Caldwell was able to cut the Lion lead in half at the 75 minute mark. A foul in the box gave the Cougars a penalty kick and Emilio Segovia just got it past Batista, putting Caldwell on the board.
• Georgian Court didn't crack though. The Cougars had one final attempt that was swallowed up by Batista and the Lions went on to win their third straight, 2-0.
