LAKEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 29, 2025) - Following a brief holiday break, Georgian Court Men's Basketball was right back in action Saturday afternoon. GCU took on the College of Staten Island in a nonconference clash. The Dolphins led end-to-end and put the Lions away 80-67. With the loss, GCU falls to 3-3 on the season.
How it Happened
• Neither team shot better than 40% for the game with CSI hitting 24-61 and the Lions 23-67 for 34.3%.
• The three-ball wasn't falling either for both teams. Georgian Court was 6-20 and the Dolphins just 4-15.
• At the foul line, the Dolphins made 28-34, many of those in the closing minutes. Georgian Court was 15-24.
• All those missed shots led to nearly 100 combined rebounds - 99 in fact. CSI grabbed five more, 47-42.
• CSI turned the ball over just 12 times and forced the Lions in 14.
1st Half
• The Dolphins scored the first six points in the game. A
Jaycen Santucci tip in at the 16:40 mark were the Lions first points in the game.
• The game remained between a four and eight point Dolphin lead for the next 11:17. A three-pointer from Mitchell Wiggan gave CSI their first 10-point lead, 27-17.
• That started a 10-2 run for the Dolphins who pushed their lead to 15, 34-19 on a three from JJ Chestnut just under the five minute mark.
• Still a 15-point lead with less than two minutes left in the half, the Lions got free throws from
Cam Edmonds and
Tesneem Ajeigbe and cut it down to 11 at the half, 39-28.
2nd Half
• GCU wasn't able to dig into that Dolphin lead anymore at the start of the second.
• They opened with two layups and a three-pointer and extended the lead out to 16, 46-30.
• The lead hovered around that mark for a while until a 6-1 run gave CSI their largest lead of the game, 61-41.
• Georgian Court responded with back-to-back three-pointers from
Cam Edmonds which led to a Dolphin timeout and brought some life to the Lions.
•
Anthony Rivera made it an 8-0 run with a layup and it was just a 12-point game, 61-49 with 6:06 remaining.
• The Dolphins weathered that storm though and the lead never dipped back into single-digits.
• In the final two minutes, the Lions tried playing the foul game against one of the better free-throw shooting teams in the region. The Dolphins showed why that is hitting 12-15 down the stretch and GCU eventually ran out of time in an 80-67 loss.
