BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 13, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball wrapped up a busy week playing their third game in their third different state Saturday afternoon. After traveling to Philadelphia and playing at home during the week, GCU was back on the road in Connecticut to take on Bridgeport. The Lions built an early first-half lead, but couldn't sustain it as the Purple Knights grabbed the lead in the second half on their way to a 96-83 win. The loss puts GCU at 2-2 in the CACC and 5-5 overall.
How it Happened
• Bridgeport nearly shot 50% for the game hitting 31-of-64. The Lions were 21-62 shooting 34% overall.
• Neither team was lighting it up from three. Bridgeport hit 5-14 and the Lions 7-28
• The whistles were out this afternoon. There was a combined 62 fouls called and 94 free throw attempts.
• Both teams probably wish they shot better from the line though. Georgian Court was 34-47 and Bridgeport 29-47.
• UB grabbed 50 rebounds with 18 on the offensive end. Georgian Court came down with 41.
• The Lions did well holding onto the ball. They turned it over just 14 times and forced 17.
1st Half
• Georgian Court got off to a strong start. Three minutes in, Cam Edmonds hit a three and the Lions led 12-4.
• Another three-ball, this time from Taheen Braswell-Brown, gave the Lions their first 10-point lead, 20-10 with 12:46 left in the half.
• Anthony Rivera made a pair of free throws and gave GCU their largest lead, 25-13 midway through the half.
• Georgian Court went cold after that though. Bridgeport scored seven straight to make it a five-point game.
• UB cut the lead down to two at the free throw line before Donavin Crawford hit a three, giving GCU a little more breathing room. He added a layup two possessions later and the lead was back out to seven, 34-27 with 5:52 left.
• Over the final 5:41, Bridgeport outscored the Lions 14-8 and Georgian Court's lead was a skinny single-point at intermission.
2nd Half
• That momentum carried into the start of the second half for the Purple Knights. They scored on their first possession to take a 43-42 lead.
• That started an 18-2 run for the Purple Knights who quickly ballooned their lead to 15, 59-44 just five minutes into the half.
• Trailing by 15 still, GCU scored eight straight cutting the lead to seven. Rivera started it with two at the line before Edmonds scored six straight.
• Bridgeport responded though and pushed the lead back into double-digits and that's where it stayed in a 96-83 win.
Lion Stat Leaders
• Anthony Rivera was 8-11 for 25 points with 14 rebounds.
• Cam Edmonds scored a game-high tying 27 and was 15-20 at the foul line.
• Jaycen Santucci added 14 points with seven rebounds.
For the Purple Knights
• Jason Edokpayi matched Edmonds with 27 points going 10-13 overall with 10 rebounds.
• Jaheem Tyson and Zay Sullivan each scored 15.
• Jayson Handy had a double-double as well with 16 points and 12 boards.
News and Notes
• Anthony Rivera set career-highs with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
• The Lions have dropped three straight to Bridgeport, all on the road and fall to 1-3 all-time.
• The 62 combined fouls and 94 free throws at the most in GCU game this season.
• The Lions 34 free throws made and 47 free throw attempts are both single-game highs, besting the previous records by seven.
• Cam Edmonds scored more than 20 points for the sixth time this season. In all six he's scored at least 25.
