Lions Complete Doubleheader Sweep of Lincoln

JACKSON, NJ (April 15, 2025) - For the first time in program history, Georgian Court Baseball swept a doubleheader at home. Georgian Court defeated Lincoln 11-6 and 16-7 to pick up two more CACC wins.

Game 1 - Georgian Court 11, Lincoln 6
How it Happened

• Georgian Court pounded out 13 hits to score 10 runs.
• Lincoln knocked 10 hits, scoring six times.
• GCU made four fielding errors, allowing one unearned run. Lincoln made two, but all 11 runs were earned.
• Georgian Court walked 10 eight times and struck out four. Their pitching walked four and fanned seven.
• Lincoln started the game plating a pair in the opening inning. A leadoff walk started it all then back-to-back two-out hits put LU up 2-0.
• Georgian Court got one of them back in the bottom of the inning. Just like the top, Carter Rieben led off with a walk. He went station to station on a stolen base, ground ball and eventually scored on an Alex Elliot sacrifice fly.
• GCU tied and took the lead in the second. Joshua Moreno started it with a leadoff single. He scored on Oliver Santana's double to tie the game at two.
• The inning continued and Rieben drove in Santana with a single. Tomas Tamargo, who walked, also came in on the play as Lincoln threw the ball around the infield. Rieben, on the back-end of a double steal, scored the fourth run of the inning and Georgian Court led 5-2 after two.
• Lincoln got closer in the third. Georgian Court made three errors in the inning and a pickoff attempt at first allowed the runner at third to trot in and make it a 5-3 game.
• Oliver Santana got things started for GCU in the bottom of the fourth with a hustle double to center. Rieben's shallow pop fly fell in front of the centerfielder allowing Santana to score the Lions' sixth run.
• Georgian Court's defense did them no favors in the fifth. A line drive to center got over the head of Larry Rodriguez for a one-out triple. One batter later a throwing error on the infield brought in the run and kept the inning going. Jack Greenspan though in left made a nice leaping catch in left to end the inning and strand a pair with GCU on top, 6-4.
• GCU got a run with a productive out in the home half of the fifth. Israel Garcia connected for a one-out double to left center, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Larry Rodriguez's sacrifice fly and GCU was back up three, 7-4.
• Lincoln returned the favor to start the sixth. They once again made it a two-run game with a sacrifice fly of their own.
• In the seventh, Lincoln scored a single run for the fourth straight inning. This time it was courtesy of just one swing as Keith Gardner went deep to left for a solo home run, cutting the GCU lead to 7-6.
• Georgian Court tacked on some insurance in the ninth. With the bases loaded and one out, Alex Elliott drove in two singling down the right field line.
• The next two batters, Jack Greenspan and Israel Moreno, also singled and drove in runs as Georgian Court pushed the lead to 11-6.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Oliver Santana had a three-hit day with two doubles, a single, two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.
• Carter Rieben singled three times, scored three times, stole two bases and drove in two.
• Israel Garcia singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.
• Tomas Tamargo was the only Lion without a hit, but he walked three times and scored twice.
• Brady Parks got the win throwing 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
• Kyle Kolans threw a scoreless ninth.

For Lincoln
• Jaden Greenidge tripled as a part of two hits with two runs and an RBI.
• Sean Stoney collected two hits in four at bats.
• Keith Gardner had a three-hit day including a home run with three RBI.
• Marc Harrison, Jr. finished 2-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
• Isaiah Negron threw the first six innings allowing seven runs on eight hits with six walks and two strikeouts.

Game 2 - Georgian Court 16, Lincoln 7
How it Happened

• Georgian Court scored 16 runs on 13 hits while Lincoln scored seven on 10 hits.
• Lincoln made two errors in the game which led to four unearned runs. Georgian Court misplayed just one ball.
• GCU hit for some pop with two doubles and two home runs.
• Lincoln tried to be patient, drawing six walks, but struck out seven times.
• Lincoln grabbed a run in the top of the first. Back-to-back singles made it a 1-0 game.
• It could have been more with two in scoring position and one out. But a 532 double play cut down a runner at the plate and ended the inning.
• GCU responded in a big way in the bottom of the inning. Carter Rieben and Alex Elliott each walked and were still on base with two outs for Israel Garcia. He got behind in the count 0-2, but came back and deposited a ball to left for a three-run home run and a 3-1 GCU lead after one.
• With 20 mile-per-hour winds and gusts up to 40 mph, the ball was carrying to left. And following a leadoff single, Keondra Green showed off some opposite field power going to left and tying the game with a two-run shot.
• Georgian Court put together another two-out rally in the second. With two outs and nobody on, GCU rattled off four straight two-out hits to score three more runs. Frank Marra and Alex Elliott had run-scoring hits in the inning.
• Lincoln pushed another run across in the third. A single, double, and a wild pitch made it a 6-4 game. Lincoln again could have added plenty more but left the bases loaded to strand three on base.
• GCU started the third with a pair of bunt singles. With two on and one out, GCU went for a double steal and when the throw got away from the third baseman, Israel Garcia scampered home with a 7-4 GCU lead.
• Georgian Court nearly got out of a big jam again in the fifth, but this time Lincoln connected for consecutive two-out RBI singles and turned it into a one-run game, 7-6.
• GCU added three in the bottom of the fifth. Two hits and an error loaded the bases with one out. Scary moment as Kody Lewis was hit up high. It brought in a run, but Lewis had to leave the game.
• Two batters later, Rieben broke it open with a double inside the line in left to bring in two and take their largest lead, 10-6.
• Georgian Court blew it open in the sixth. They scored six in the inning. JR Osmond had a pinch hit two-RBI single and Carter Rieben capped the scoring with a three-run home run down the left field line and GCU went out in front 16-6.
• Lincoln put some runners on base in the seventh and scored one, but it was nowhere near enough as Georgian Court completed the doubleheader sweep.
