JACKSON, NJ (April 16, 2025) - Georgian Court Baseball finished up three doubleheaders in three days, with a pair of losses to CACC North foe Caldwell. The Cougars defeated the Lions 6-2 and 8-1.
Game 1 - Caldwell 6, Georgian Court 2
How it Happened
• The Lions knocked just seven hits while Caldwell hit 10.
• Caldwell played long ball with four home runs and two doubles. The Lions had just one extra-base hit.
• Both teams made just one error in the field and one of the GCU runs was unearned.
• Each team struck out six. GCU walked four and Caldwell walked six.
• After two scoreless innings, Caldwell broke the tie in a big way. First it was Chris Hopf with a line drive home run down the left field line. One pitch later, Christian Petino went back-to-back and suddenly it was a 2-0 Cougar lead.
• The Cougars proceeded to load the bases with two outs later in the inning, but a fly ball ended the inning.
• Georgian Court put the first two on in the sixth, but a ground ball double play and a foul out squashed that threat and kept GCU off the board.
• The Lions finally cracked through for a run in the seventh.
Israel Garcia led off with a walk, and after a passed ball moved to second. He came in on
Oliver Santana's double to right to lead the lead in half, 2-1.
• Caldwell added two in the eighth. A third solo home run made it a 3-0, and a two-out RBI single made it a 4-1 game.

Israel Garcia got GCU closer with a two-out RBI single bringing in
Frank Marra. The Lions loaded the bases, but a ground out ended the inning with Caldwell still up, 4-2.
• The Cougars put the finishing touches on the game with a two-run home run in the ninth for a 6-2 win.
Lion Stat Leaders

Ryan Bilello threw the first 6.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

Oliver Santana was 3-4 with a run batted in.

Israel Garcia was on base three times with a single and two walks. He scored and drove in a run as well.
For the Cougars
• Chris Hopf reached base three times with a walk, double and home run.
• Christian Petino was 2-4 with a home run and two RBI.
• Johnny Amato threw the first 7.2 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with five strikeouts.
• Sean Brown hit two home runs and drove in three runs.
Game 2 - Caldwell 8, Georgian Court 1
How it Happened
• Caldwell scored eight runs on nine hits with seven extra-base hits.
• The Lions picked up six singles and a double to score one run.
• Georgian Court made four errors in the field which led to two unearned runs.
• Things started out well for GCU getting the first two outs in the first. Then Caldwell saw the extra-base hits come. Five straight reached base with two doubles and a home run and before GCU came to bat, they were down 4-0.
• Caldwell continued to pound the baseball. Three more extra-base hits in the inning and another home run scored two more for a 6-0 lead.
• Georgian Court cracked a couple of base hits to start the inning, but stranded both.
• The Cougars made it an 8-0 game scoring two more with two outs in the fourth.
• The Lions had another chance to score in the fourth. They had runners on the corners with nobody out, but couldn't bring in a run in part to a double play and a ground out.
• Georgian Court broke the shutout bid in the sixth.
