Lions Fall in Doubleheader at Chestnut Hill

NORTH WALES, PA (April 21, 2025) - Georgian Court Baseball continued their season Monday with an early doubleheader against CACC South Division foe, Chestnut Hill. The Griffins got excellent pitching in a sweep of the Lions, 12-2 and 6-2.

Game 1 - Chestnut Hill 12, Georgian Court 2 - 8 Innings
How it Happened

• Chestnut Hill pestered the Lions all game collecting 17 hits, 15 singles to score 12 runs.
• Georgian Court scattered four singles.
• Chestnut Hill made two errors in the field which led to both GCU runs. The Lions made one error defensively.
• CHC was all over the bases stealing seven bases and moving up on six wild pitches.
• GCU batters struck out nine times and walked once. Lion pitchers walked three and struck out four.
• The Lions stranded nine runners on base and CHC left five.
• Georgian Court got on the board first in the second inning. Frank Marra ripped a one-out single and Oliver Santana drove him in with an infield single.
• The inning continued and JR Osmond, who was hit by a pitch, scored on a wild pitch for a 2-0 GCU lead.
• That lead only lasted until the bottom of the inning. Chestnut Hill started the inning with back-to-back singles and both of those runs came in on outs to tie the score.
• The Griffins followed suit with another two-run inning. An RBI single and their third run-scoring out made it a 4-2 ball game after three.
• Four singles in the fourth produced two more runs for Chestnut Hill as they took a 6-2 lead following a two-out, two-RBI hit.
• CHC tacked on one more in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch.
• Georgian Court threatened to get closer in teh seventh. A two-out Griffin error loaded the bases and kept the inning alive, but CHC starter J Schweiker got a strikeout to end the threat.
• That missed opportunity proved costly. The Griffins put a three-spot on the board getting a two-run home run and a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
• Ahead 10-2, Chestnut Hill put together a two-out rally to end the game early. It started with a walk, followed by consecutive singles to plate to more runners and end the game, 12-2 after eight.

• The Griffins used their legs as well to get the run back in the home half of the inning. They led off with a single, stole second, third and scored on a throwing error to make it a 3-1 game through three.
