LAKEWOOD, NJ (July 1, 2025) - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced their 2025 Academic award winners. Georgian Court was honored this year for both team and individual achievements.
Individually, the Lions'
Brett Bridges and
Joe Murphy were each selected to the Scholar All-American Team. Additionally, the Lions as a team earned the Team Scholar award.Â
A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Please note that simply being a member of the North/South team and/or being All League/Conference does not make the Student-Athlete a lock for the award. Each Individual will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Scholar AA committee.
Bridges is an Exercise Science major with a cumulative GPA of 3.24. He was the Lions leading point-scorer for the second straight season finishing with 51 goals and 25 assists for 76 points, all of which were career highs. Bridges also set new career marks on the defensive side with 37 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. He scored a point in all but one game this season and had eight games with at least five points while scoring multiple goals in 10. For the third straight season, Bridges made the All-CACC First Team.Â
Murphy is also an Exercise Science major with a 3.51 GPA. And also similar to Bridges, Murphy made his third All-CACC Team in 2025. The defensive stalwart who finished his career with 64 starts on defense put together his best season in the royal blue and gold. He picked up 45 ground balls and surpassed 100 for his career this season. He also set a new career-high with 28 caused turnovers. Murphy had 12 games with multiple ground balls and 10 with multiple caused turnovers.Â
While Bridges and Murphy stood out as Scholar All-Americans, the Lions as a team were just as successful in the classroom as they were on the field. They finished the year with a 3.43 team GPA for the 2024-25 season. This is the fourth straight season Georgian Court has earned the USILA Team Academic Award.
