Men's Lacrosse Plays First Home Game Saturday Morning

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 20, 2026) - It'll be a full day of lacrosse this Saturday with both the Lions men and women in action. The day starts with the Georgian Court men playing in their home opener.

Previously vs. Assumption
• This will be the fifth straight season Georgian Court and Assumption have met.
• They Greyhounds have won three of the previous four.
• Georgian Court's win came back in Lakewood in 2023, a 13-7 victory.
• Last year was a low-scoring affair in Massachusetts, with Assumption coming out with an 8-6 win.
• GCU led 3-1 late in the first, but Assumption scored six straight goals to pull ahead.
• The Lions scored two fourth quarter goals, but the Greyhounds held on for the two-goal win.
• Both goaltenders were outstanding with Vincent Burkhart making 20 saves and Greyhound goalie Shane Corcoran making 18.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court kicked off 2026 on the road playing at #17 Mercy.
• It was a defensive battle at the outset, with the Mavericks up 2-1 after the first quarter.
• Mercy held GCU scoreless in the second and extended their lead to 6-1 before GCU got back on the board.
• The Mavericks scored 11 second half goals to pull away in a 16-6 win.

• Brodie Seaborn needs one goal for 30.
• Vincent Burns is three groundballs and Malik Alzubi is four groundballs away from 50.
• One more save will get Vincent Burkhart to 700.

• Vincent Burkhart turned away 14 shots in the season opener.
• Drew Barocas passed out a team-high three assists.
• Tyler Burns and Harrison Jordan each scored two goals.
• Jeremiah Slaven caused a pair of turnovers and picked up three groundballs. 

About the Opponent
Assumption Greyhounds

• Assumption is 1-1 to start the year. This will be their first road contest of the season.
• They Greyhounds also played Mercy. They took the Mavericks to overtime where Mercy prevailed, 13-12.
• Assumption finished fourth in the NE10 regular season a year ago. They were picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches poll.
• Ahead of the season, faceoff specialist Connor Stack was named a USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason All-American.
• The Greyhounds had three others on the USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention squad with midfielder Boomer Staunton, defender Trent Sargent and goalie Shane Corcoran.
• Corcoran, who allowed just six goals against GCU last year is back for his sophomore season. He's started both games and is allowing 8.45 goals against average with 25 saves this season.
• Faceoff specialist Connor Stack has won 22-40 draws. Assumption is right at 50% on faceoffs through two games.
• Ben McHugh and Boomer Staunton each have six goals to lead the offense. Assumption has five who have already scored at least four goals.
• The Greyhound defense has caused 30 turnovers in two games, led by Trent Sargent's eight.
• Assumption has been prone to taking penalties. They've taken 14 so far in two games and allowed three man-up goals.
• They Greyhounds have been adept at keeping teams from getting across the timeline. Opponent clear percentages are at just 77.6%.
