PLEASANTVILLE, NY (Sept. 5, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer kicked off the 2025 campaign on the road at Pace. The Setters showcased their attacking edge, scoring twice to seal a narrow 2-1 win against the Lions in the opening game of the season.

How it Happened
• Pace held GCU without a single shot in the first half, showcasing a dominant defensive performance.
• The Setters had a total of 11 shots while the Lions had eight.Â
• Pace found the back of the net once in both halves, while the Lions were limited to a lone second-half goal.
First Half
• The Setters came out firing, registering their first shot in the first 54 seconds of the game. Georgian Court's Brooke Mckown made the save to keep the scoreboard level.Â
• Following that, the Setters Ava Viebrock opened up scoring just five minutes into the game.Â
• The Lions did not get one shot off in the first half, compared to Pace's eight shots and trailed 1-0 after 45 minutes.
Second Half
• The Lions had more opportunities to start the second half, but could not capitalize.Â
• A big shot from outside the eighteen from Setters Allison Carr, led to the second goal for Pace.Â
• The Lions finally were able to find the back of the net.
Lillian Piper put the Lions on the board.Â
• With about two minutes remaining in the game,
Chelsea Lavezzo fired a shot that narrowly missed the targe and the Setters walked away with the 2-1 victory.

• Brooke Mckown made three saves in goal.

• Anna Fiore made six saves for Pace.Â

• Piper's goal was the first of her career in her 26th game played.Â
• A handful of Lions played in their first career games: Erynn Richie,
Gabby Kelsey, Meghan Moor,
Leila Racines-Romero, and
Kat Wilkins.
• This is the second straight season GCU has opened the year with a game against Pace, last year they took home a win.Â
• Season openers as a whole haven't been too kind to Georgian Court who fall to 1-8-2 in their first games of the season in their last 11 openers.
