Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Santiago's Career Night Fuels Lions Second Half Comeback

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 28, 2026) - Coming off three straight losses, two by a combined five points, Georgian Court Men's Basketball was determined to get back in the win column. It took a full 40 minutes and a team effort, but the Lions got the job done, overcoming a pair of multiple-possession deficits in each quarter, for a 68-62 comeback win over Holy Family. The win keeps the Lions above the Tigers in the CACC standings as they move to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in conference.

How it Happened
• It wasn't the best shooting night for either team. In fact, both teams shot 39.6% from the field.
• The Lions were the better team from behind the arc and at the free throw line. They were 10-23 from deep and 20-25 at the line.
• GCU outscored the Tigers by 11 points from the free throw line.
• The Lions were also the better team on the glass, 34-31.
• Each team gave the ball away a bunch with HFU coughing it up 14 times and the Lions 13.
• The Lions depth was on display getting 26 points from the bench.

1st Half
• It was a fun and fortuitous start for GCU as Donavin Crawford's three bounced high in the air and back into the net on the game's first shot.
• The Lions didn't have the lead very long though. Holy Family broke an 8-8 tie by scoring five straight.
• HFU led for much of the half. A three-pointer from Elijah Hernandez gave them their largest lead, 21-14, just past the midway mark in the frame.
• Holy Family kept the lead for a bit but GCU was chipping away. Down one, Jacob Santiago gave the Lions a 32-30 lead with a three ball, just the start of a career night for Santiago.
• Santiago hit another three before the half, but the Tigers answered and the game was tied at 37 after 20 minutes.

2nd Half
• On the first possession of the second half, Georgian Court played outstanding defense for 29 seconds, but the Tigers were able to get off a corner three as the shot clock sounded and hit, putting them back out in front.
• With 14:23 left to play, Holy Family matched their largest lead of the game. Najee Coursey was 1-2 at the line and Holy Family was back up seven, 47-40.
• The Tigers went cold though after that. They didn't score for nearly five minutes as the Lions mounted their comeback.
• Amar Lane tied the game at 47 and a three-ball from Cam Edmonds put the Lions up 50-47 with less than 10 minutes to play.
• Coursey hit a three for the Tigers as they reclaimed a 55-54 lead, their final lead of the night.
• That was immediately answered by a three Crawford and it was all GCU from there.
• Georgian Court finished the game on a 14-7 run over the final 5:28, but three of those Tiger points came at the buzzer when the game was no longer in question.
• GCU was 6-8 at the line to hold off any hopes of a Tiger comeback. They also forced three HFU turnovers in that span.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Cam Edmonds led all scorers with 19 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double.
• Jacob Santiago was 6-9 overall, 4-4 from three for 18 points with two assists and two steals.
• Donavin Crawford added 15 points with three three-pointers.
• Jaycen Santucci didn't score much, but grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

For the Tigers
• Elijah Hernandez scored 15 points with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
• Najee Coursey was also in double-figures with 10 points and four boards.
• Di'Andre Howell-South scored nine with a team-best six rebounds.

News and Notes
• Jacob Santiago's 18 points are a new career-high.
• Santiago's 4-4 from three is tied for the second-most three-pointers in a game without a miss. Two Lions have gone 5-5, most recently Clint Wright, Jr. in 2024.
• Donavin Crawford surpassed 2,000 minutes played and moved into sole-possession of third all-time in Lions history for three-pointers made.
• Justin Soranno reached 250 career points.
• Georgian Court has swept Holy Family in back-to-back seasons. The four game winning streak over the Tigers is their longest in program history. It's also their first time sweeping not just the Tigers, but any CACC team in consecutive seasons.

Up Next
• Georgian Court concludes the first month of 2026 on the road. They play at Caldwell Saturday, Jan. 31 at 3 pm.
