LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 6, 2026) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball dropped a conference game against Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday afternoon. A close first half gave way to a high-scoring second half which saw the Lightning pull away for good with a 99-85 win.
How it Happened
• Goldey-Beacom was just below 50% shooting on the afternoon hitting 33-67. That included going 20-34 in the second half and scoring 64 points in the final 20 minutes.
• Georgian Court shot 43.2% overall, but were just 5-24 from three.
• The Lions continued to shoot well at the line hitting 80%, 16-20. Goldey-Beacom went to the line 33 times and made 25.
• The Lightning had the edge on the glass coming down with 44 rebounds to Georgian Court's 39. The Lions were up one, 16-15, in offensive rebounds and 18-15 in second-chance points.
• Georgian Court gave the ball away 15 times which led to 15 GBC points. The Lightning lost the ball 12 times.
• GCU was able to get their paws on a lot of shots, blocking eight.
1st Half
• Tre Powell hit a jumper on the game's first possession to get the Lightning started, but Georgian Court answered with six straight as
Justin Soranno and
Anthony Rivera made layups, and
Cam Edmonds was 2-2 at the line.
• Trailing by two, 10-8, Goldey-Beacom went on an 8-0 run, all coming from Elisha Brown who capped the spurt with back-to-back three-pointers.Â
• Midway through the half, Goldey led by as much as seven before Georgian Court roared back.

Jaycen Santucci capped a 10-2 run that saw GCU take the lead back, 27-26 with 5:45 left to play.
• That was the last time GCU led though as the Lightning took the lead right back.

Kam Waters buried a three to get the Lions back to within one, 33-32, but Masud Stewart was 2-2 at the line in the final seconds to push the Lightning lead to three, 35-32, at the half.
2nd Half
• The second half was nonstop action with a combined 117 points.
• Still down three, Edmonds had a layup and completed the three-point play as GCU tied the game at 37 less than a minute into the half.
• Goldey-Beacom responded by scoring on their next four possessions. The last a three-pointer to finish off a 9-1 run and put GBC up 46-38.
• The teams were trading baskets as the score remained a 2-3 possession difference.
• With less than 12 minutes remaining, the Lightning lead was still just six before they broke off on another big run. In 2:43, GBC went on a 14-2 run and suddenly a six-point lead, was an 18-point lead with 9:13 left to play.
• Georgian Court tried to chip away, getting the lead back down to 10 on a couple of occasions, but the Lightning kept scoring and never let GCU get any closer as time ran out on a 99-85 GBC win.
Lion Stat Leaders
•
Cam Edmonds scored a game-high 26 points. He was 8-20 overall and 10-13 at the line.

Justin Soranno had an efficient double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He was 7-9 from the floor.

Jaycen Santucci also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.Â

Kam Waters was 3-6 from downtown for nine points.
•
Amar Lane scored eight and blocked four shots.
•
Anthony Rivera added eight points and five rebounds.
For the Lightning
• Tre Powell was 7-9 from the floor, 6-6 at the line for 22 points.
• Elisha Brown scored 21 on 7-10 shooting and was a rebound away from a double-double.
• Emarquis Jones and Justin Allen each scored 14 points. Allen added four assists and three steals while Jones had eight boards.
• Anthony Akande chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.
