WILMINGTON, Del. (Oct. 1, 2026) - Georgian Court Volleyball finished up their road trip Thursday afternoon playing at Wilmington. All three sets were close, but GCU couldn't get over the hump in any as the Wildcats won 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-22).
How it Happened
• Georgian Court hit the ball well finishing with a .106 attack percentage. They outhit the Wildcats who had a .076 attack percentage for the match.
• Wilmington's defense was strong, especially on serve receive. The Lions landed just one ace in three sets.
• The service line hurt GCU all night long. Not only did they hit just one ace, but Wilmington hit 13. The Lions also hit 11 service errors to the Wildcats six, giving Wilmington a +17 advantage on the line.
• The Wildcat defense also picked up 60 digs to the Lions 49.
• GCU had the defensive edge at the net with five blocks to the Wildcats two.
Set 1
• The first set was a series of runs, especially early on.
• Wilmington scored five straight to take a 6-2 lead, but that was followed up by five straight from Georgian Court.
• The teams then traded 3-0 runs and then eventually single points.
• The score was tied at every point from 12-17 with neither team taking a two-point lead.
• That is until Wilmington scored two straight and a five of six near the end to lead 22-18.
• Georgian Court got one point back, but the Wildcats ended it with three straight and aces on the final two points.Â
• After the scored was tied at 17, Wilmington ended the set scoring eight of the final 10 points for a 25-19 win.
Set 2
• Wilmington used a 4-0 run in the middle of the set to turn a 9-9 game into a 13-9 Wildcat lead.
• The Wildcats never trailed again, but GCU did make it close.
• GCU trailed by five, 17-12, when they scored four straight to cut the lead down to one.Â
• The Wildcats withstood that rally and pushed the lead back to six, 23-17.
• Georgian Court cut the lead in half to 23-20 getting a kill from
Flavia Pecora and an ace from
Carmen Rivera Colon.
• Wilmington followed with two straight kills though to end the set, 25-20.
Set 3
• The third set was as close as they come and featured 15 ties and seven lead changes.
• Wilmington thought they got the upper hand scoring four straight for a 15-13 lead, but GCU answered with four straight of their own for their own two-point lead, 17-15.
• The scored was tied at every point from 17-22 with a Wildcat service error tying the frame at 22.
• The Wildcats put an end to the match though going kill, ace, kill for the final three points and a three-set sweep.Â
Lion Stat Leaders
•
Keira Mullen totaled 11 kills and 11 digs for a double-double.
•
Flavia Pecora hit .500 with seven kills on 14 attempts with three blocks.
•
Roshell Chevres Sanchez passed out 26 assists with eight digs.
For the Wildcats
• Wilmington passed the ball around with three Wildcats picking up nine kills. Gianna King hit .304 with nine kills.
• Liani Sierra was a kill away from a double-double with nine and 12 digs.
• Morgan Daniels and Lucille Hendricks each totaled 13 digs and three aces.
News and Notes
•
Carmen Rivera Colon moved to third all-time in Lions history in career digs.
• This was the 51st game in the all-time series between these teams. The first 50 went 25-25 and the Wildcats now hold a one-game lead, 26-25.
•
Keira Mullen was in double-figure kills for the fifth straight game and recorded her third straight kills-digs double-double.
