NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 19, 2026) - What a week it was for Georgian Court sophomore Ava Churnesky. Not only did Georgian Court go 2-0 last week, Churnesky hit both a single-season and a career milestone in the Lions win at Bridgeport. Her outstanding week led her to being named the CACC Player of the Week.

Georgian Court stayed hot and went 2-0 with wins at Southern New Hampshire and Bridgeport. The Lions have now won four of their last five games. Churnesky totaled 48 kills in seven sets, nearly averaging seven kills per set. Not only was she hitting for volume, Churnesky's hitting percentage for the week was .330, showing a high display of accuracy on her attacks.

Churnesky helped out all around the court adding three aces, four blocks and 14 digs. Her week started with a 17-kill effort, hitting .286 in the Lions sweep at Southern New Hampshire.

It only got better from there as Churnesky landed a new career-high 31 kills for Georgian Court in their four set win over Bridgeport. She took 68 attacks and hit .353 for the game.

In that game against Bridgeport, Churnesky also landed her 500th career kill.
