JACKSON, NJ (March 28, 2026) - Georgian Court Basebal picked up their biggest win of the season Saturday. The Lions got down early in game two, but used a pair of big offensive frames to come from behind and defeat Dominican 11-8. That gave GCU a split of the series and their second CACC win in the last three games.
Game 2 Georgian Court 11, Dominican 8 - 7 Innings
How it Happened
• It was a tale of two halves. Dominican scored early, but the Lions did damage late.
• GCU scored 11 runs on 14 hits. The Chargers scored eight times on 11 base hits.
• The Chargers made two errors in the field and they came back to haunt them. Of the Lions 11 runs scored, six were unearned.
• Each team put the ball in play. GCU struck out and walked three times. Dominican fanned three times and walked twice.
• Dominican struck first putting up four runs in the opening inning. The first three batters all reached and a wild pitch got just far enough way to score the game's first run.
• A sacrifice fly made it 2-0 before consecutive RBI hits gave the Chargers a four run first.
• DUNY went ahead 5-0 with a two-out RBI single in the top of the second.
• Georgian Court got back into the game in the third. With two outs and the bases loaded,
JR Osmond and
Zinny Kemahu had back-to-back singles to get to within 5-3 after three.
• Lopez settled in and threw straight three scoreless innings to keep GCU in the game.
• And the GCU offense rewarded Lopez scoring seven runs in the fifth inning. They sent 13 to the plate and took advantage of two Dominican errors.
• The first four all reached base and the Lions tied the game with a
JR Osmond RBI single and
Zinny Kemahu ground ball pushed across the tying run.
• The inning continued with
Jack Greenspan,
Arian Lunar and
Frankie Noviello all picked up RBI hits.
• With the bases loaded,
JR Osmond got hit by a pitch and the Lions were doubling up the Chargers after five, 10-5.
• Dominican got two back in the sixth and threatened for more. An RBI double and a sacrifice fly made it a 10-7 game and the Chargers had the tying run at the plate.
• A deep drive to left nearly tied the game, but
Brian Guzman had just enough room with his back to the fence to end the inning with GCU still on top.
• Georgian Court made it a four-run game again in the sixth. Lunar picked up another two-out RBI and GCU led 11-7.
• Domincan scored a run and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but
Ryan Basham closed the door on the 11-8 win.

Samir Lopez got the win allowed seven runs in 5.1 innings, five of those seven in the first two innings. He struck out a pair.

Ryan Basham got the final five outs allowing a run on two hits.

Arian Lunar reached base four times with a walk, two singles and a double. He drove in two and scored twice.

How it Happened
• Dominican scored 10 runs on 19 hits with five extra base hits.
• GCU picked up six runs on six hits.
• Each team made just one error and gave up one unearned run.
• Dominican left 11 runners on base while the Lions stranded six.
• Georgian Court started the scoring with a
JR Osmond sacrifice fly to score
Frank Marra.
• That was the Lions only lead though.
• Dominican grabbed the lead in the top of the second. A leadoff walk was followed by a two-run home run and DUNY went up 2-1.
• The Chargers continued to score in the inning. A two-out, two-RBI double made it a 4-1 Dominican lead.
• Dominican started the third with another home run. A long blast to left on the first pitch of the inning.
• After a scoreless fourth, Dominican made it a 6-1 game. They loaded the bases with no out, but only scored one run on a sacrifice fly to score an unearned run.
• The Chargers put up four more runs in the seventh. The first two on another two-run home run, their third home run of the game.
• A two-out single gave DUNY a 10-1 lead.
• GCU fought back in the bottom of the seventh. They scored five runs to make it a 10-6 game.
• The inning started with three straight walks before a dropped fly ball scored one run.
• Joseph Koppelman gave the Lions life with a pinch hit two-RBI single that stayed fair down the left field line.

Brian Guzman kept the line moving. His lined shot to left hit off the top of the fence to score two more runs.
• GCU got a run on in the ninth, but couldn't push a run across and Dominican went on to a 10-6 win.

• Fraelyn Rosario and Jaden Maia each had three hits and two RBI.
• Kevin Hirsch finished 3-5 with a home run and three runs scored.
News and Notes
• Georgian Court did a lot of damage against the Charger bullpen. They scored nine runs in five innings against DUNY relievers.
• Six different Lions had multiple hits in game two. Not a single Lion had just one hit in the game.
• GCU was 9-20 in game two with runners on base, 6-12 with runners in scoring position and drove in six two-out RBI.

Frank Marra reached base five times in two games with two hits and three walks.
• The Lions continued to have a patient approach at the plate, walking 10 times in the doubleheader.
