Lions Split With Pitt-Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (March 6, 2026) - Georgian Court Baseball had a terrific day on the mound, throwing two strong games and coming away with one victory. The Lions took game one from Pitt-Johnstown in extra-innings, before falling in a one-run game in game two.

Game 1 - Georgian Court 8, Pitt-Johnstown 6 - 8 Innings
How it Happened

• Georgian Court scored eight runs on just six hits.
• The Mountain Cats needed 10 hits to score their six runs.
• Each team made two errors in the field. That led to three Pitt-Johnstown unearned runs. The Lions scored one unearned.
• The Lions took advantage of the Mountain Cats wildness on the mound. While they struck out 11 GCU hitter, Pitt-Johnstown also walked 10 and hit two batters.
• Georgian Court was able to limit free passes, walking just five and fanning six.
• The Lions got a run in the first without the benefit of a hit. Oliver Santana and Adrian Lunar walked to start the inning. The pair then used their legs to create a run. First Santana swiped third. Then they executed a double-steal with Lunar stealing second and Santana stealing home for the game's first run.
• UPJ got the run back plus one more in the bottom of the inning with a two-run double.
• An inning later, a Mountain Cat solo home run made it 3-1.
• Pitt-Johnstown added single runs in the fourth and fifth and led 5-1 after five in a seven-inning scheduled game.
• Georgian Court responded with a five-run sixth to take a 6-5 lead.
• GCU took advantage of three walks, two with the bases loaded, and a fielding error to score five time.
Frankie Noviello had the go-ahead hit with a single to left.
• UPJ tie the game with two-outs in the seventh. A single to center sent the game to extras.
• In the eighth, GCU had a runner on with two outs. Santana and Lunar each drew walks to extend the inning and load the bases. On the first pitch, Brian Guzman drove a ball to center to plate two and the Lions led 8-6.
Ely Houston entered the game and despite giving out a one-out walk, struck out the save to lock down the win.
