HOLMDEL, NJ (Sept. 12, 2026) - Georgian Court Cross Country was right back on the course this week after opening the season a week ago. GCU competed at the Stevens Tech Back to the Bowl Invitational in historic Holmdel Park. 

The course is notoriously challenging with significant hills in the first two miles and a flat final mile. 

The Lion women finished in fourth place scoring 84 points. For the second straight week, Dori O'Halloran and Sophia Mauro finished in the top-10.

O'Halloran completed the 5K course in 21:44.3 for seventh place. Two spots behind was Mauro who ran 22:21.2. 

Following Mauro was Nora Sprunger in 24th place. She ran 25:01.6. Azucena Martinez-Panesso placed 30th overall, running 25:39.9. Julisa Sanchez Ponce rounded out the field for the Lions. She was in 50th place running 34:34.4. 

Stevens scored 39 points to win the team championship. Staten Island sophomore Adriana Roa was the individual winner in 20:18.1. 

After the women's race the men also ran a 5K. For the second straight week, Ryan Pettrow finished in fourth place. He was the second collegiate finisher and first from Division II. Pettrow crossed the line in 16:51.6. 

Behind Pettrow was Richard Riopel and Zachary Spoonire. Riopel cracked the top-20 in 20th place, crossing the tape in 17:28.3. Spoonire finished in 28th place running 18:04.5. Luke McCormick was 10 spots behind in 38th place running 18:51.4. 

Stephen Lane and Colin Broadbelt rounded out the Lions runners. Lane ran 19:11.0 to finish in 44th place. Broadbelt was 52nd running 19:41.2.

The men's team finished in fifth place overall scoring 104 points. Stevens was the top collegiate team finisher scoring 50 points. Castle Point Racing's Ronnie Melao was the individual winner in 16:36.5. 

Georgian Court takes a week off before returning to race. They'll be at the West Chester Purple and Gold Open Saturday, Sept. 26.
