LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept, 19, 2026) - Georgian Court Volleyball got a taste of a new force in the CACC Saturday afternoon. The Monroe Mustangs made their first ever trip to Lakewood and made their presence felt with a sweep of the Lions, 25-17, 25-14, 25-14.
How it Happened
• Monroe hit .326 as a team with 40 kills. Georgian Court landed just 24 kills and hit .034.
• On defense, Georgian Court didn't get their first block until set three and finished with three while Monroe put back six total.
• Each team hit just three service errors. The Mustangs landed eight aces and the Lions six.
• The Mustang defense averaged 13 digs per set, four more than GCU.
Set 1
• All three sets followed a pretty similar pattern. A close beginning before Monroe pulled ahead with a run and finished off the Lions.
• In set one, it came with the score tied at nine. The Mustangs scored six straight points to pull ahead 15-9 and never trailed again.
• The teams traded points the rest of the set and the Mustangs landed back-to-back kills to end the frame, 25-17.
Set 2
• The second set saw the most ties and lead changes with six and three respectively.
• Georgian Court actually scored the first three points in the frame, but Monroe quickly tied things at four.
• The score was tied at each point from from 10-13 before Monroe made a charge.
• They made their move and never let up, finishing the set on a 12-1 run.
• Monroe hit .450 in the set with 11 kills to two errors in a 25-14 win.
Set 3
• After Monroe took a 2-1 lead in set three, they never trailed again.
• Georgian Court kept it close at the start and trailed by just two, 7-5.
• The Mustangs then scored 11 of the next 15 points and were doubling up the Lions, 18-9.
• GCU never recovered as Monroe hit 13 kills in the set and won 25-14.

Keira Mullen led the Lions with 11 kills and three service aces.

For the Mustangs
• Adrianna Garcia landed 12 kills and hit .429.
• Mileyshka Melendez was near a double-double with 19 assists and eight digs.
• Emma Dedushaj picked up a game-high 10 digs.
• Alisha Pereira Rodriguez-Wells hit .500 with seven kills on 14 attempts without an error.
News and Notes
• While Monroe are the new kids on the block in the CACC, this is not a CACC match that will go towards the Lions conference record as the Mustangs are for 2026 in a scheduling alliance with the league.
