LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University basketball squad held visiting Post University to 12 second-half points en route to a 62-44 victory over the Eagles Saturday afternoon in the GCU Wellness Center. The win snaps a two-game slide for the Lions, but extends their home winning streak to three.
Freshman
Shawna Wert led all scorers with 17 points in a complete-game, 40-minute effort, including 6-for-10 from the free-throw line. Junior
Lauren Staats dropped in 15 points in 34 minutes while freshman
Dana Wert (pictured) tallied 12 points in 24 total minutes.
Sophomore
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, NY) registered a double-double for Post, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 boards in the loss. Teammate
Aubury Latham (Fr.-Mystic, CT) fell one rebound short (9 total) of a double-double of her own, scoring 12 in 33 minutes of play.
Georgian Court improves to 6-12 (4-7 CACC) while Post University drops to 5-13 (1-9 CACC) on the campaign.
The Lions welcome nationally-ranked Holy Family University to "The Well" Tuesday evening at 6 PM. Fans are invited to wear pink to the WBCA PINKZONE "Pink Out" as GCU and the visiting Lady Tigers promote breast cancer awareness on this very special night.
