LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University basketball squad, in its first game since December 19th, dropped a 53-43 decision to visiting East Stroudsburg University Thursday afternoon in the GCU Wellness Center.
With the defeat, the Lions say good-bye to 2010 with a 0-11 record while the Warriors of the PSAC improve to 2-6, snapping a three-game slide of its own.
Samantha Heck topped all GCU players with 16 points (6-7 FG, 4-5 FT) in 26 minutes off the bench.
Lauren Staats contributed 10 points of her own in 40 minutes.
Brittany Baker fell one point short (9 total) of a double-double as she grabbed a team-high 13 boards in 31 minutes of action.
Sophomore
Barb Borst (Greene, NY) drained a game-high 24 points for East Stroudsburg, including a 7-for-12 effort from beyond the three-point line, while snaring eight steals, in 36 minutes. Sophomore
Kelly Sorber (Spring City, PA) grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds to go along with four points in 36 minutes. New Jersey native
Andrea Veres (Fr.-Phillipsburg, NJ) distributed six assists in her 38 minutes.
The Lions return to action Tuesday evening with a CACC match-up vs. Wilmington University at 6PM in the "The Well." The Wildcats (1-9, 1-4 CACC) defeated GCU, 75-61, back on December 4th in Delaware for its lone victory of the campaign.
