LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University basketball squad still seeks its first triumph of the 2010-11 campaign as the Lions dropped a 78-44 decision to the University of the Sciences Tuesday evening at the Wellness Center.
The difference was made at the free-throw line as the Devils went 31-for-36 at the charity stripe compared to a 5-for-10 effort by the home team.
Four Devils achieved double-digits in the scoring column led by senior
Caitlin Shaw (Sr.-Eatontown, NJ) (21 points, 5-for-5 FT). Senior
Marissa Chesnavich (Pittston, PA) tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
Colleen Christian (Warrington, PA) dropped in 14 points (6-6 FT) while sophomore
Becca Ruggear (Oxford, PA) sank 13 points off the bench.
GCU (0-6, 0-2 CACC) received a team-high 17 points from freshman
Jasmine Lewis (7-12, 2-2 FT). Freshman
Brittany Baker and junior
Samantha Foley contributed six points each off the Lions' bench.
The University of the Sciences improves to 4-2 (1-0 CACC).
Georgian Court has now lost 10 straight games dating back to 2/18/10 and starts a season at 0-6 for the first time since doing so in 2006-07.
The Lions travel to Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA this Thursday for a CACC contest. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
