LAKEWOOD, NJ- A hat trick from Candace Seaton and a pair of tallies from Kelly Lyons was more than enough scoring for the Georgian Court University soccer team as the Lions defeated CACC-rival Goldey-Beacom College, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at GCU’s Investors Savings Bank Field.
Seaton effaced her early-season goal-scoring woes almost immediately when she drilled home a Katie Schieder pass at 2:46 before scoring number two at 11:36 on a Skyler Eiceman assist.
Lyons made it 3-0 GCU at 13:10 when she headed in a Shannon Mastrogiovanni serve.
The referee's whistle denoting the start of the second stanza still reverberated across the field when Nicole Petrosino scored her second goal of the season, courtesy of Eiceman, at 45:39 to make it 4-0.
Seaton completed her personal trifecta at 51:35 when she took a feed from defender Alexa Niro the entire length of the field for the score. Less than two minutes later (53:31), Lyons scored her second goal of the game and fifth over her last two games when she headed home a corner kick from Mastrogiovanni.
Shannon Murphy sealed the deal for Georgian Court (4-3-1, 4-1 CACC) when she knocked in her first collegiate goal on a Jennifer Molzon assist at 73:17
GCU goalkeeper Shealyn Sullivan collected four saves in her third shutout of the season while local product Alyssa Vetrano (So.-Ocean, NJ/Shore Regional) gathered 13 saves off 28 GCU shots in the Goldey-Beacom (0-7-1, 0-5-1 CACC) loss.
The Lions travel to Sparkill, NY this Thursday afternoon for a 3:30 PM, non-conference match at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
