Lions Denied by Powerful, Majestic Creatures of Chestnut Hill, 77-52

LAKEWOOD, NJ- The struggles still continue for the Georgian Court University basketball squad as the Lions fell to 0-16 (0-9 CACC) after Thursday evening's 77-52 loss to Chestnut Hill College (4-10, 2-5 CACC) in the GCU Wellness Center.

The Griffins sweep the season series from its fellow CACC South member as they also defeated Georgian Court back on December 9th in Phialdelphia, 77-63.

Chestnut  Hill held the upper-hand from the field, shooting 53.6% compared to 27.4% by the Lions. GCU out-rebounded its guests, 40 to 31, but turned the ball over a putrid 31 times (vs. 18 by the Griffins).

Three Lions achieved twin figures in the scoring column, led by Jasmine Cobb's 14 points in 26 minutes off the bench. Lauren Staats contributed 12 points in 40 minutes while Samantha Heck dropped in 10 and grabbed a team-high nine boards in 25 minutes of play.

Lindsay Alexander (So.-Huntingdon Valley, PA) scorched GCU for 20 points in only 17 minutes, going 8-for-12 from the field and 4-for-7 from the charity stripe. Asha Jones (So.-New Castle, DE) drained 17 points (7-for-12) and sank three of six free throws in 28 minutes.

Georgian Court takes to the road this Tuesday with a 7PM contest at University of the Sciences. The Devils dropped the Lions, 78-44, back on December 7th in "The Well."
