GCU Hoops Falls at Philly, 82-52

PHILADELPHIA, NJ- Playing its first road contest since December 9th, the Georgian Court University basketball squad traveled to Philadelphia University Thursday afternoon, dropping a 52-82 decision to the CACC rival.

Philadelphia (7-3, 3-1 CACC) took a 24-9 lead midway through the first stanza and entered the half at 50-28. The Lady Rams added a 11-0 run late in the second half to take an 80-48 lead. PU shot 49%, made 23 of 29 at the foul line and committed 11 turnovers as the Lions (0-13, 0-6 CACC) posted a 37% effort from the field, went 6-13 at the stripe and committed 18 turnovers.
 
Samantha Heck led Georgian Court with 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench, shooting 5-for-10 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Kiki Mayweather snagged a team-high 10 boards in 14 minutes off the bench.

Four players reached double-digits for the Lady Rams, including Kate Brennan (Sr.-Stratford, NJ) (20 points); Stephanie Agger (Jr.-Wildwood Crest, NJ) (18 points); Kristen Blye (So.-Chester Springs, PA) (13 points) and Christine Wooding (Jr.-Northfield, NJ).

Wooding also contributed a team-high nine rebounds.

Philadelphia now owns a six-game winning streak while the Lions still seek its first triumph of the campaign. GCU has a 17-game winless streak dating back to February, 2010.

Georgian Court travels to Caldwell College this Saturday at 2PM for another CACC showdown.
