Senior Day Display ... Georgian Court Conquers Felician, 3-0, in Final Regular Season Home Game for Quartet

LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Saturday setting at GCU's Investors Savings Bank Field was as pristine as could be ... blue skies, colors in the trees, huge crowd and, most importantly, a lead on the scoreboard. The Georgian Court University soccer squad, playing its final regular-season home game with seniors Kelly Lyons, Alexa NiroCandace Seaton and Shealyn Sullivan, concluded the perfect day with a  solid 3-0 defeat of visiting Felician College.

Following a touching pre-game ceremony, junior Katie Schieder gave the Lions a 1-0 advantage at 20:17 with her first goal of the season (and first since tallying three in 2009) when she blasted home a Seaton cross. For Seaton, the assist marks the 30th of her collegiate career, increasing her program lead in that category.

Kaitlyn Hartkopf  increased the GCU advantage to 2-0 at 35:32 when she scored the first goal of her career, smacking in a deflected pass from Becky Witmer.

After an opening half of first-timers, Lyons, the greatest goal scorer in the Divsion II era of the CACC, felt left out of the action before drilling her team-leading tenth tally of the season (on an Amber Schlosser assist) just 42 seconds into the second stanza. The goal marks the 71st of her illustrious collegiate career.

Shealyn Sullivan collected her second shutout of the week and tenth of her career as she collected four saves in the complete-game effort.

The Lions, winners of three straight, improve to 9-7 (6-5 CACC) while the Golden Falcons drop to 7-3 in the CACC (8-5-1 overall).

Georgian Court next takes on Goldey-Beacom College in CACC action Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
