LAKEWOOD, NJ-Despite
Brittany Baker's fourth double-double of the season (17 points, 12 rebounds) and 10 points and seven boards from
Jasmine Lewis, the Georgian Court University basketball squad still succumbed to visiting Goldey-Beacom College, 70-48, Thursday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
Both Georgian Court and Goldey-Beacom celebrated WBCA Pine Zone Night, sporting pink warm-up shirts, shoelaces and socks in recognition of the battle against breast cancer.
The defeat drops the Lions to 0-25 (0-18 CACC) on the year while the Lightning climb to 13-10 (11-5 CACC) and all but solidify the three-seed in the CACC South playoff hunt.
Tara Fearon enjoyed her best day as a Lion, establishing career-highs with eight points and six rebounds.
Goldey-Beacom sophomore
Devonne Richardson (Baltimore, MD) tied Baker with a team-leading 17 points while teammate
Lindsay Duck (Jr.-Stafford, VA) collected 14 points and a game-high five assists. The Lightning blocked 12 GCU shots on the night, including six from 6-1 forward
Akilah Sewell (So.-Baltimore, MD).
GCU concludes its challenging 2010-11 this Saturday afternoon when they welcome Dominican College to the "Well" for a 12PM contest. The Lions will recognize
Lauren Staats and #Kiki Mayweather# in a special pregame Senior Day ceremony as each plays their last game in a Georgian Court uniform.
