Philly Too Much for Lions ... Ram Past GCU, 76-52

LAKEWOOD, NJ- A double-double (12 rebounds, 17 points) from freshman Brittany Baker was not enough to earn the Georgian Court University basketball squad its first taste of victory as the Lions fell to visiting Philadelphia University, 76-52, in the GCU Wellness Center.

The Lady Rams improve to 11-8 (7-5 CACC) while GCU remains winless, falling to 0-21 (0-14).

Samantha Heck also eclipsed double-digits in the Georgian Court scoring column with 10 points and six rebounds.  Jasmine Cobbs and Lauren Staats each dropped in seven apiece.

Philadelphia had five players in double-figures, led by senior Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Meeting, PA) with 15 points. Junior Stephanie Agger (Wildwood Crest, NJ) (14 points), sophomore Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA) (13 points),  junior Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ) (12 points) and sophomore Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, PA) (10 points) followed Magnus on the boxscore.

The Lions return to action this Saturday with a 12PM contest vs. Nyack College in "The Well". Georgian Court will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day througout the day, which includes a basketball game played by the Holy Family School (Lakewood) girls' basketball team at 10AM.

GCU will also honor former lacrosse great, Christine Latteri ('10), at halftime as the 2010 CACC Tournament MVP will receive two spectacular plaques from the NCAA after leading the nation in Goals-Against Average (6.48) and Save Percentage (.601).

Also making a special appearance will be everyone's favorite mascot, "Buster", from the Lakewood Blue Claws to go along with an abundance of contests, raffles and prizes.
