EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt sophomore back Carly Collins (Monroe, NY) headed home the game-winning goal as the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team went to overtime with a 4-3 victory over Georgian Court on Friday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest when sophomore forward Kerri McClay (Warminster, PA) scored on an assist from junior forward Bridget Connell (Langhorne, PA). The Lions, the defending CACC tournament champions, tied it on a free kick by Farrell Pomponio in the 40th minute, but Connell put the Warriors back in front with 2:31 left before halftime with the assist from junior back Ashley McKenna (Warrington, PA) off a free kick.

For Pomponio, who missed the entire 2010 season, it was her first goal since September 15, 2009 when she found the back of the net in a 4-1 victory at Chestnut Hill College.

ESU went ahead 3-1 on a Georgian Court own goal in the 57th minute, but the Lions stormed back. Breanna Sherman scored her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute, and after an injury delay of nearly a half hour with the clock frozen with 11:17 remaining, Kelly Lyons, the 2010 CACC Player of the Year, got on the end of a cross and tied the game at 3-3 with 2:35 left in regulation.

Georgian Court had one shot in overtime, which sophomore Nicki Keiser (Mechanicsburg, PA) saved, before the Warriors won the corner kick at the other end and Collins converted. Megan Keiser (Mechanicsburg, PA) picked up her 11th career assist, just two away from the Warriors' top 10.

Both goalkeepers went the distance, with Keiser making three saves for ESU and Shealyn Sullivan making four saves for Georgian Court.

GCU hits the road again on Thursday, September 8th with a non-conference showdown at the University of Bridgeport. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
