LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University basketball squad fell to 1-9 versus CACC foes and 2-15 on the year as the Lions dropped a 62-50 decision to visiting Felician College Saturday afternoon in the Wellness Center.
A jump shot from GCU's
Tahira Matthews tied the contest at 4-4 with 16:51 remaining in the first half, but that would be as close as the home club would get for the balance of the game. The Golden Falcons regained a 5-4 lead at 16:45 on a
Que Lyles (Jr.-Bronx, NY) free throw and would not trail or tie again the rest of the way.
Felician's 31-24 advantage at the half represented its highwater mark (seven points) of the first stanza. The Golden Falcons (9-7, 6-3 CACC) would see that lead grow to 13 when they secured a 47-34 lead over Georgian Court with 12:07 remaining in the game.
Neither team shot exceptionally well from the floor as Felician (21-for-69, 30.4%) held a slight advantage over the Lions (16-for-61, 26.2%). The visitors also out-rebounded GCU, 49-46.
Destiny Barnette (Sr.-Paterson, NJ) dropped a game-high 22 points on the host-Lions, including an 8-for-11 effort from the charity stripe, in 35 minutes of action.
Jac'Quel Saunders (So.-Trenton, NJ) also eclipsed double-digits with 11 points in 26 minutes.
