WILMINGTON, DE-Goldey-Beacom College thumped visiting Georgian Court University Thursday evening , 88-52, to garner their third win in a row and stay a game behind the leaders, Philadelphia University and Holy Family University, in the loss column of the CACC South.
This one was in the Lightning’s pockets early, as they held the Lions to 16.7% first half shooting en route to a 39-14 halftime lead. GBC (9-4, 4-2 CACC) out-shot the Lions handily (46%-28%) overall, built a 47-38 rebound gap and forced nine more turnovers (29-20), which they crafted into a 35-18 advantage in points-off-turnovers. The Lightning also dominated in the paint (36-10) and sank 7 of 11 three-pointers.
Devonne Richardson (Jr.-Baltimore, MD) (16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists), Ashley Rosario Jr.-Levittown, PA) (15 points) and
Monica Burch (Fr.-Somerdale, NJ) (10 points) registered double figures for Goldey-Beacom while
Ebony Sellers and
Brittany Baker topped the GCU scoring with 10 points apiece.
Georgian Court (2-10, 1-4 CACC) returns to action Saturday afternoon as they travel to Dominican College (4-6, 4-1 CACC) for a 1:00 PM contest.
