WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior guard
Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) scored a game-high 18 points and added a season-high 14 rebounds as Goldey-Beacom College (5-5, 2-1) earned its second straight win, a 66-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Georgian Court University (1-6, 1-3) at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones College Center on Tuesday evening.
Led by Richardson, the Lightning posted their 14th straight win over Georgian Court while handing the Lions their sixth consecutive loss.
The Lightning, who never trailed in the game, sprinted out to a commanding 23-9 lead in the opening 12 minutes of the first half. Richardson and junior forward
Briana Richmond-Peters (Blimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) each scored four points during the run.
The Lions closed the deficit to 28-20 with 1:43 remaining in the first half on a pair of free throws by junior guard
Ebony Sellers before the Lightning ended the period by scoring seven of the final nine points, including a three-point field goal by sophomore guard
Taylor Leonard (John A. Coleman Catholic H.S./Lake Katrine, N.Y.) as time expired, for a 35-22 advantage.
Goldey-Beacom continued to extend its advantage to begin the second half and led by as many as 15 points on a jumper by senior forward
Akilah Sewell (Baltimore City College H.S./Baltimore, Md.) with 11:27 remaining. But, the Lions answered by scoring 8 of the next 10 points to narrow the margin to 51-42 with 8:14 left on a pair of free throws by junior guard
Brittany Baker.
However, the Lightning countered by going on a 10-4 run to regain their 15-point advantage with 3:07 left.
Despite outscoring the Lightning by a 14-6 margin in the final three minutes, the Lions were unable to earn the victory over their conference rival.
Richardson, who tallied her third “double double” of the season, made 3 of 10 field goal attempts but converted 12 of her 22 free throws to lead the Lightning. She also had a game-high four steals and added three assists. Meanwhile, senior forward
Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) contributed 11 points by making five of nine shots from the floor along with one of two free throws.

Christina White scored a team-high 15 points in a losing effort for the Lions along with nine rebounds while Sellers had 10 points with six rebounds and four assists.
