Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad concluded its season-long, six-game homestand with a 72-63 loss vs. Caldwell College Saturday afternoon in the GCU Wellness Center.

The Lions tumble to 1-8 on the year (0-3 CACC) after dropping their last five outings. The Cougars improve to 3-5 and 2-1 in conference play in the CACC North Division.

Caldwell poured in the first seven points of the contest, taking a 7-0 lead after an Emily Caswell (Jr.-Wakefield, R.I.) three-pointer at 16:05. An Antoinette Pilla (Fr.-Scarsdale, N.Y.) three-ball at 14:18 increased the Cougars' advantage to ten points and a 14-4 score.

The visitors would proceed to max out its first-half lead at 19 on three seperate occasions with the final time occuring after a pair of Jessica Coscia (Jr.-Staten Island, N.Y.) free throws with 4:27 remaining made the score 33-14 Caldwell. The Lions, albeit late, sprinted to intermission with a 12-0 flurry to enter halftime down by just seven points at 33-26.

GCU would climb to within six twice in the second stanza, trailing 57-51 with 8:57 to go. The Cougars went on to outscore the Lions, 15-12, in the remaining minutes to secure the conference road victory.

Jeanette Anderson (Sr.-Lynn-Ma.) provided a monster of an afternoon for Caldwell with her double-double performance of 30 points and 14 rebounds, both game highs. Caswell also contributed a double-double of her own with 18 points and 10 boards. 

Georgian Court's Ashiri Broadwater joined the Caldwell duo with her fourth double-double on the season, pouring in 12 points with a team-leading 12 rebounds. Tahira Matthews, coming off the Lions' bench, sank a team-high 20 points and came within a rebound (nine total) of a second double-double on the day for GCU.

The Lions travel to the New York Institute of Technology for its next outing, Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m.
