Women's Hoops Falls at Holy Family University, 89-53

Philadelphia, Pa.-The Holy Family University women's basketball extended its season long winning streak to seven games after defeating Georgian Court University by the score of 89-53 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
 
Holy Family improves to 10-5 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 8-0 after the victory.  Georgian Court is now 3-13 overall and 2-7 in the CACC.
 
Freshman Jill Conroy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford) sparked the Tigers with a career-high 18 points, while shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.  Freshman Yasmin Walker (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) came off the bench and shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the field in 13 minutes of action.  Yasmin tallied a career-high 12 points to go along with two assists and two steals.
 
Freshman Abigail Iannotti (North Bennington, Vt./Mt. Anthony Union) also scored in double-figures off the bench for the Tigers totaling a career-high ten points to go along with five rebounds. Sophomore Kasey Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) finished the game with nine points after shooting 4-of-4 from the field.
 
For Georgian Court, junior Ashiri Broadwater totaled a game-high 19 points to lead the Lions' offense.  Broadwater came one rebound shy of a double-double after grabbing nine boards.  Redshirt junior Tahira Matthews finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, while junior chipped in nine points and a game-high ten rebounds.
 
With the game tied 5-5 early on in the opening half the Tigers used a 13-2 run to take a double-digit lead.  A layup basket by Woetzel gave the Tigers an 18-7 lead at the 14:03 mark.  From there, the Tigers never looked back and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the game.
 
Holy Family led by as many as 23 points late in the first half after a Walker layup score gave the Tigers a 37-14 lead with 2:48 to play until halftime.   The Tigers went on to take a 39-19 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
Holy Family shot 44.8-percent from the field for the game, including 54.8-percent in the second half.  The Tigers also converted 22-of-28 attempts from the free throw line.
 
The Holy Family defense limited the Georgian Court offense to just 30.2-percent shooting and forced 24 turnovers.  The Tigers turned the ball over only 11 times.
 
Holy Family led by as many as 37 points in the game late in the second half on three separate occasions.
