Another Difficult Setback as GCU Men Falter vs. Philadelphia University, 85-63

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball team succumbed to visiting Philadelphia University, 85-63, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Thursday evening in the GCU Wellness Center. The Rams improve to 13-5 (7-2 CACC) on the season while the Lions plummet to 2-15 overall (0-10 CACC).

Despite a one-point advantage (3-2) early in the first-half by GCU, Philadelphia owned the lead the entire contest. The Rams owned a first-half best 22-point lead on two seperate occasions as the visitors coasted into intermission with a 47-25 advantage. A TJ Huggins (So.-Alexandria, Va.) layup with 14:37 left in regulation provided the Rams with its highwater mark of the evening and a lead of 61-29. Both squads would tally 38 points apiece in the second stanza.

The Rams shot a stellar 33-for-61 (54.1%) from the floor while the Lions dropped in 21 of 63 (33.3%).

Peter Alexis (So.-Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) topped all scorers with his 27 points (10-15 FG-FGA) to go along with nine boards. Nick Schlitzer (Jr.-Pottsville, Pa.) poured in 22 points and matched Alexis with nine boards as well. Andre Gibbs (So.-Smyrna, Del.) added 13 points and six assists while Huggins drained 12 points and snared five rebounds.

Jordan Wejnert paced the Lions with 22 points and 11 rebounds, securing his second double-double of the season. Keith Hughes followed with his 19 points and five rebounds while Jalen Robinson contributed 12 points and eight boards.

GCU gets back at it this Saturday afternoon when they travel to Dominican College at 4:00 p.m. in CACC action.
