GCU Women Leveled by Lady Rams of Philadelphia, 95-58

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad dropped its fifth straight contest Thursday evening with a 95-58 loss to the Lady Rams of Philadelphia University in the GCU Wellness Center Arena. Philly U. improves to 8-0 (10-5 overall) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action while the Lions fall to 3-14 (2-8 CACC) on the year.

The contest outcome was never in question as Philadelphia led from start to finish. The Lady Rams created two 17-point leads in the first stanza, coasting into the intermission with a 42-25 lead. The visitors led by a game-high 41 points with 2:48 remaining in regulation when a free throw from Tori Arnao (So.-Newtown, Pa.) made the score 90-49 Lady Rams. The Lions were outscored, 53-33 in the second period.

Monica Schacker (Jr.-Doylestown, Pa.) paced the Philly offense with a team-high 20 points ( including four three-pointers) and three steals. Arnao poured in 17 points and contributed three blocks while Alex Heck (So.-Willow Grove, Pa.) added 16 points off the the Rams' bench. Najah Jacobs (Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) added 13 points of her own. Mary Newell (So.-Lansdale, Pa.) cleared a team-high nine rebounds and Megan Finn (Sr.-Collegeville, Pa.) dished a dazzling 10 assists.

Ashiri Broadwater contributed her fifth double-double of the season for the Lions as she led all players with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Keosha Parks added 14 points and a team-high five assists for GCU as Elizabeth Lawler provided ten points, six boards, and three blocks while Octivia Booker also tallied three denials.

The Lions look to right the ship this Saturday afternoon when they travel to Dominican College for a 2:00 p.m. CACC contest.
