Georgian Court Dropped at Dominican College, 69-58, in CACC Women's Action

Orangeburg, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad took to the road Saturday afternoon, traveling to Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The host-Chargers dimissed the Lions, 69-58, to improve to 6-11 (4-6 CACC) on the year. GCU slips to 3-15 overall with a 2-8 conference mark.

An Ashiri Broadwater layup at 18:27 provided the Lions with an early 4-0 advantage. Dominican answered by scoring ten straight points to take a 10-4 lead with 15:42 to go in the first half and never looked back. Broadwater dropped in another layup at 8:06 remaining to cut the deficit to 16-14, but the home team rattled off another 10-0 run to make it 26-14 Chargers with 3:49 on the clock.

Dominican increased its lead to a stanza-high 19 points after a pair of Lashonda Hathorne free throws made the score 35-16 0:35 before intermission. The Chargers increased its advantage to a game-high 25 points when a Hathorne jumper at 18:26 made the score 42-17. 

Georgian Court proceeded to put a slight scare into DC as the Lions were able to cut the deficit to as low as seven after a 40-22 GCU run made the score 64-57 with 1:27 remaining in regulation.

Lisa Bouffard tallied a double-double for Dominican with a team-best 15 points and 10 boards in 34 minutes. Hathorne collected 12 points, five boards, and four assists. KC Jentzen achieved double-digits in the scoring column with 10 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Brittany Baker topped the GCU offense with a game-high 16 points and team-leading nine rebounds in 33 minutes. Broadwater and Keosha Parks followed with nine points apiece.

GCU stays on the road for its next contest as the Lions head to Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday evening for a 6:00 p.m. match-up. The Lightning defeated the Lions earlier in the year, 63-57, back on November 26 in the Georgian Court Wellness Center.
