Orangeburg, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad suffered a 108-62 defeat to the hands of host-Dominican College Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 12-5 overall with an 8-2 mark in the CACC North Division. The Lions fall to 2-16 (0-11 in CACC action).
Aside from the initial point of the contest and a brief stalemate at 3-3, Dominican owned the lead the rest of the way. The Chargers increased its advantage to a first-half high 20-points when a
Khaleev Ginyard three-pointer made the score 55-35 with 46 seconds remaining before intermission. It was no contest in the second stanza as DC outscored the visitors, 53-25 in the period.
The Chargers shot an impressive 39-for-68 (57.4%) from the field while the Lions hit 22 of 61 attempts (36.1%). Five Dominican players eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column, led by Ginyard's 23 points, which included seven three-balls.Â
Keith Hughes led all players with his 24 points, shooting 8-for-18 from the floor and 8-for-12 at the charity stripe.
Jordan Wejnert poured in 15 points of his own as both players topped GCU with six rebounds each.
Georgian Court returns to the court Tuesday evening with a CACC road contest at Goldey-Beacom College. The Lightning defeated the Lions, 85-73, back on November 26 in the GCU Wellness Center. Start time is slated for 8:00 p.m.
