Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight With 3-0 Defeat of Dominican College

Carly LoVerde
Lakewood, N.J.- On a drab, rainy afternoon at Georgian Court University, the women's soccer squad made it shine as the Lions dismissed visiting Dominican College, 3-0, Saturday in an always-important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.

GCU, winners of two straight, improves to 7-3-1 (5-2 CACC) while the Lady Chargers dip to 3-5-2 (3-3-2 CACC).

Tayler Bramley (So.-Sparta, N.J.) commenced the scoring for the Lions at 30:50 after she settled a boot on a Tori Capestro (Jr.- Brick, N.J.) corner kick and popped in her third score of the season. After entering intermission with a 1-0 advantage, Carly LoVerde (Sr.-Bayville, N.J.) made it 2-0 at 47:43 when she one-timed a Katie Vecchio (Jr.-Williamstown, N.J.) cross to net her first of the year.

The Lions' third and final tally came at 72:39 after Kerry Ann Strohmeier (Sr.-Manahawkin, N.J.) controlled a Bramley feed and blasted her first goal of the season from the top of the 18.

Casey O'Connor (Jr.-Toms River, N.J) earned her fourth shutout on the year as she improved to 6-2-1 without even registering a save in the contest. Gina Yannette (Dumont, N.J.) was saddled with the loss after allowing the game-winning goal (2 saves) in 30:50 of action.

Georgian Court outshot Dominican, 25-3, and owned a 5-0 corner kick advantage.

A road game is on tap for GCU as the Lions travel to Concordia College Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. to make up an October 4th rainout.
