Georgian Court Women Unable to Snap Slide as Lions drop 72-60 Decision at Lincoln University

Lincoln University, Pa.-The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad was vetoed by Lincoln University Saturday afternoon as GCU lost the battle of Lions, 72-60, in non-conference competition.

Lincoln, with the victory, improves to 6-1 on the year while Georgian Court still seeks its first taste of victory (0-8) this season .

GCU enjoyed a spendid first half as the Lions entered the locker room with a 30-25 advantage at the intermission. Unfortunately, flapdoodle ensued for Georgian Court as the Lady Lions of Lincoln roared back in the second stanza with a 47-30 surplus to secure the triumph.

De'Jah Taylor (So.-Nanuet, N.Y.) paced Lincoln with her game-high 19 points in 19 minutes off the Lady Lions' bench.

Kiara Colston (Fr.-Burtonsville, Md.) topped the visitors with 13 points, four steals, and three assists. Tahira Matthews (Sr.-Bloomfield, N.J.) contributed a double-double in 25 minutes off the bench with 11 points and 11 boards.

"We are making strides, but still not quite good enough," shared GCU head coach Jasmina Perazic.  "We, unfortunately, only made 16 of 40 free throws. Lincoln also had complete control of the offensive boards and their press defense made us turn the ball over 29 times. We need more work in the gym and still must get more disciplined on offense and on defense and get everyone to play together as a team. I am sure I am not speaking just for myself when I say that I can't wait for the next practice and the next game."

That next game will take place this Wednesday when Georgian Court returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a road trip to Wilmington University. Tip is slated for 8:00 p.m.
