Georgian Court Women No Match vs. USciences ... Drop 80-48 Decision to Devils

Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad proved to be no match for the University of the Sciences Saturday afternoon as the first-place Devils dismissed the Lions, 80-48, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.
 
USciences, winners of four straight, improves to 6-4 (4-1 CACC) on the year. GCU continues to nurture its season-opening losing streak by falling to 0-10 (0-6 CACC).

Aside from Georgian Court's Morgan Peacock (So.-Edison, N.J.) scoring the contest's initial points with a three-pointer 1:22 into the game, the Devils controlled the affair the rest of the way. The home squad opened a stanza-best, 21-point lead with 6:26 to go before intermission and coasted into haltime with a 37-19 advantage.The second stanza was anticlimatic as USciences outscored GCU, 43-29, en route to the triumph.

Senior Brianne Traub (Wayne, N.J.) topped the Devils with 15 points and tied for the team-lead with eight boards in 22 minutes of action.

Tahira Matthews (Sr.-Bloomfield, N.J.) collected her second straight 17-point effort for the visiting Lions, shooting 6-for-10 from the floor in 24 minutes off the GCU bench. Kiara Colston (Fr.-Burtonsville, Md.) added 10 points in 29 minutes for the Lions while Peacock paced the visitors with nine rebounds.

GCU heads home to play its first home game since November 25 as the Lions host Southern Connecticut State University Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
