Wilmington, Del.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad began a stretch of five consecutive road games Wednesday evening with a 84-70 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) defeat at Goldey-Beacom College.
The Lions continue to search for their first triumph of the 14-15 campaign, sinking to 0-6 (0-3 CACC) with the setback. The Lightning ended a six-game season-starting slide of their own with the victory, improving to 1-6 overall (1-0 CACC) on the year.
Georgian Court controlled a majority of the first half, which included a stanza-high lead of 20-13 just 6:36 into the session. GBC battled back and grabbed its first advantage (30-29) of the evening with 1:41 remaining before intermission after a run of 17-9. GCU edged the Lightning, 5-4, over the final 101 ticks of the clock, resulting in a 34-34 stalemate heading into the locker room.
With the contest knotted at 41-41 with 15:44 to go, the home team scorched the Lions with a strike of 17-3 to establish an advantage of 14 points (58-44) at the 10:53 mark. The highwater mark would increase to 17 points (76-59) with 4:00 remaining.

Lexi Bruno (Fr.-Millville, N.J.) topped all scorers with her 21 points while teammate
Lillian Chukwueze (Sr.-Cherry Hill, N.J.) contributed a double-double consisting of 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Morgan Peacock (So.-Edison, N.J.) enjoyed a stellar evening for the Lions with a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards off the GCU bench.
Tahira Matthews (Sr,-Bloomfield, N.J.) paced the visitors with 14 points while
Jaelyn Tweedy (Fr.-Richmond, Va.) contributed 12 of her own.
GCU gets back at it this Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. CACC meeting at Caldwell University.
