Caldwell, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad found themselves at Caldwell University Saturday afternoon as the Lions were the victims of a 73-62 defeat at the hands of the Cougars in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition.
GCU is still in search of its first conference triumph (2-7, 0-4 CACC) while Caldwell moves to 5-4 on the year (2-1 CACC).
The Cougars led the contest wire-to-wire as they constructed a stanza-high 14 points en route to a 35-23 advantage at intermission. The lead would inflate to as high as 18 in the second half as Caldwell coasted to the conference victory.
Michael Balkovic (Sr.-Neptune, N.J.) led a balanced attack for Caldwell with 15 points and a game-high 15 boards for the double-double.
Kevin Walker (Sr.-Bayonne, N.J.) topped all scorers with his 20 points on the day.
The Lions had three players acheive double-digits in scoring on the day, led by
Chris Polanco (Fr.-New York, N.Y.) with 13 points.
Juwuan Carter (Fr.-Paterson, N.J.) and
Michael Rotando (Jr.-Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) dropped 10 points apiece.
Georgian Court will not return to action again until next Saturday when they travel to the New York Institute of Technology for a non-conference game. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m.
