Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad dropped a hard-fought Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon as the Lions fell to Felician College, 58-50, in the GCU Wellness Center.
The Lions, losers of nine straight, slip to 3-18 on the season with a 2-11 mark in conference play. The Golden Falcons move to within one game of .500 at 10-11 and increase their conference mark to 8-6.
Both clubs played it close throughout the affair as the final scoring margin of eight points was the largest lead for either team all afternoon.
Georgian Court enjoyed three five-point surpluses over the first 6:01of the first half as
Octivia Booker's jumper with 13:59 remaining provided the Lions a 14-9 advantage. Felcian rallied to tie the contest at 14-14 after a
Jac'Quel Saunders (Sr.-Trenton, N.J.) three-pointer with 11:54 on the clock.
Neither team would own a lead of more than three points the remainder of the stanza as Felician entered the intermission ahead by a count of 31-28. The Golden Falcons remained up until a
Tahira Matthews lay-up tied the game at 44-all with 4:58 left in regulation. Matthews again caused a stalemate with a lay-in, this time to make the score 46-46, at the 4:52 mark.

Keisha Jean-Louis (Sr.-Somerville, Mass.) jumper at 4:41 kickstarted a 12-4 Felician spurt as the Golden Falcons soared to the final horn by outscoring the Lions, 27-22, in the second frame.

Que Lyles (Sr.-Bronx, N.Y.) and
Trina Plummer (Sr.-West Babylon, N.Y.) topped all players with 13 points apiece.
Gisell Peguero (Sr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) dropped in 11 points, including a stellar 11-for-12 effort from the charity stripe, to go along with a game-high four assists.
Ashley Morris (Jr.-West Orange, N.J.) led all players with her nine boards.
Brittany Baker paced the GCU offense with her 11 points and provided a game-high five swipes.
Ashiri Broadwater sank 10 points off the Lions' bench while Matthews corralled a team-high seven rebounds.
GCU takes the floor again Tuesday evening when the Lions host Holy Family University at 6:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center.
