Lakewood, NJ- After Mother Nature delayed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle between Georgian Court University and Dominican College by a day, the two squads finally got together on Sunday afternoon and gave the fans an exciting game that came down to the wire.
The Lady Chargers (8-11, 6-4 CACC), with a late basket and foul shot from
Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.), took the win from the paws of the Lions, 67-65.
It was an exciting game as both teams traded leads back and forth as the seconds were anxiously ticking down. The Lions trailed by six with four minutes to play before going on a 9-0 run to take a slight lead. Dominican battled back scoring the final five points of the game to secure the victory.
Georgian Court's
Tahira Matthews (Bloomfield, NJ) had a monster game for the losing side scoring 20 points to go along with 20 rebounds.
Jess Placher (Cape Coral, FL) led all scorers in the game with a season-high 22, on 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc.
Gabbidon paced three Chargers in double figures with 21 points followed by
Shannon McGill (Staten Island, NY) with 16 and
Lashonda Hathorne (Queens, NY) with 11.Â
The Lions (1-16, 1-10 CACC) will look to shake this loss off on Tuesday as they host Goldey- Beacom College with tip-off scheduled for 6pm. It will be Blue and Gold Night, all fans in attendance are asked to support the team by wearing  Blue or Gold.
