Another Tough One for GCU Women as Lions Fall to St. Rose, 90-43

Syracuse, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad struggled in its second straight outing to start the 2015-16 season, this time a 90-43 dismissal by The College of St. Rose (Northeast-10) Sunday afternoon at Le Moyne College.

The Lions (0-2) owned a slight 7-6 advantage 3:31 into the contest, but that would the final lead of the afternoon for GCU as the Golden Knights (1-1) closed out the initial quarter with a 22-6 run. St. Rose's advantage blossomed to as high as 31 points on two seperate occasions in the second period, coasting into intermission with a 53-26 surplus.

The second half proved to be just a matter of protocol as the Golden Knights cruised to its first victory of the year, outscoring the Lions, 37-17, over the final two frames.

Keyontae Williams (Sr.-Fredricksburg, Va.) topped the St. Rose offense with her team-leading 17 points, followed by 15 and 12 points, respectively, from Taylor Nazon (Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) and Ashley Vanderwall (Fr.-Palmyra, N.Y.). Kelsey Glanzman (Sr.-Center Moriches, N.Y.) snagged a game-high nine rebounds in the triumph for the Golden Falcons.

Alliyah Berger controlled a majority of GCU's scoring output as the senior produced a team-best 17 points and eight boards over her 32 minutes of action.

Things do not get any easier for Georgian Court as the Lions must now take on CACC-rival, Holy Family University, Wednesday evening in the Wellness Center. The 7:00 p.m. showdown marks the 2015-16 home opener for GCU.
