Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women are off the hot seat as the Lions collected their first triumph of the 2015-16 campaign Tuesday evening, dissecting the University of the Sciences by the score of 67-51 in a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional victory.
GCU (1-8, 1-4 CACC) snaps a season-opening winless streak of eight straight while the Devils drop their second straight and fall to 2-7 (2-3 CACC) on the year. The Lions snap a 10-game losing streak to USciences, dating back to the 2009-10 slate when Georgian Court swept the season series from its conference foe.
The home team never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a solid 15-7 advantage after the first quarter of action. The Lions enhanced that surplus to a commanding 18-point margin at intermission with a 34-16 lead heading into the locker room.
Georgian Court would lead by as many as 20 points in the third period when a
Destiny Thompson jumper put the Lions ahead by a score of 48-28 with 2:25 to go in the stanza. USciences would never inch closer than 12 points in the fourth-and-final frame as GCU coasted to the satisfying win.
