Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad trekked to the City of Brotherly Love Tuesday evening, falling to Holy Family University, 87-44, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division action.
With the score knotted at 4-4 4:59 into the contest, the Tigers (14-9, 11-4 CACC) utilized a 7-0 run to take seven-point advantage and never looked back. The Holy Family lead never entered single digits in the first half, plateauing at nine on four seperate occasions, including a 29-20 surplus entering intermission.
Holy Family pressed hard on the accelerator in the second stanza, jumping out to a 44-24 lead at 15:35 after a 15-4 sprint. The GCU deficit would go as high as 43 points twice in the session, which included the final score of the contest.
Tahira Matthews and
 Morgan Peacock essentially provided all of the scoring for the Lions (2-20, 2-13 CACC) as both collected double-doubles on the night for Georgian Court. Matthews compiled her 13th such performance with 14 points and 14 boards in 29 minutes. Peacock dazzled with a game-high 21 points, to complement her 10 rebounds, for her second double-double on the year.
Four Tigers exceeded the double-digit mark in the scoring column, led by
Sarah Pawlak's (Sr.-North Tonawanda, N.Y.) 15.
Kylie Giedemann (Fr.-Turnersville, N.J.) provided 12 points in 16 minutes off the HFU bench, followed by 11 by
Erin Fenningham (Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) and 10 courtesy of
Abigal Iannotti (So.-North Bennington, Vt.).
GCU next plays this Saturday with a CACC road contest at Bloomfield College. Tip is slated for 1:00 p.m.
