Bloomfield, N.J.- On "Senior Day" Saturday at Bloomfield College, the home-Bears sunk their teeth into the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University as BC cruised to a 96-73 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action.
GCU (5-18, 2-13 CACC) owned a very brief 4-0 lead to commence the contest but Bloomfield quickly (10-12, 9-6 CACC) found its footing and rattled off an impressive 24-6 run to take a commanding 14-point advantage with 12:05 remaining in the half. The Bears' surplus would grow to as many as 18 points in the stanza before BC jogged into intermission ahead by a 51-35 count.
Bloomfield blossomed to a game-best, 27-point advantage of 93-66 with 3:49 left in regulation before coasting to the final buzzer.
Keith Hughes topped the GCU offense with his 15 points on the day, followed by 11 apiece from
Juwuan Carter and reigning CACC Rookie of the Week,
Michael Pierre.
Jordan Wejnert added 10 points in 28 minutes off the Lions' bench.
Claude Blue (Jr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) topped BC with a game-high 28 points while
Nick Davidson (Fr.-Lumberton, N.J.) and
Clarence White (Jr.-Bronx, N.Y.) provided 16 points each.
Matt Hall (Sr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 15 points.
The Lions return home Tuesday evening to host Chestnut Hill College at 8:00 p.m.
